Management Plan

MLTPA worked with partners to establish the foundation of the management program for the Mammoth Lakes Trail System. This included researching and recommending essential agreements, identifying relevant policy choices, and drafting potential organizational frameworks for the key partners.

Governance

Mammoth Lakes Recreation, established by the Mammoth Lakes Town Council in 2014, provides oversight for the Mammoth Lakes Trail System. In March of 2015, the Town Council approved "Key Agreements for Implementation of the Mammoth Lakes Trail System Coordination" through its Trails Committee.

Fundraising

In 2006, MLTPA initiated fundraising efforts to support the implementation of a new trail system master plan being developed by the Town. These included state grant applications, engagement with the real estate development community, and a proposition for the voters of Mammoth Lakes.

Website

MLTPA developed and maintains the Mammoth Lakes Trail System website at mammothtrails.org through an agreement between the US Forest Service and the Town of Mammoth Lakes. The website offers a wealth of resources to enhance trail-based recreation experiences in Mammoth Lakes.

Information Systems

MLTPA maintains information systems and verified GIS data to support local and regional recreation planning and implementation projects. This includes support for the Mammoth Lakes Trail System and the integration of its trail counter program which provides valuable information to local land managers.

Interpretive

MLTPA worked with specialists to produce a 21st century interpretive program for the Mammoth Lakes Trail System. In January of 2013, the Town Council voted to include the program as an appendix to the Mammoth Lakes Trail System Master Plan as adopted by Town Council in October of 2011.

Image Library

MLTPA maintains over 80,000 images that tell the story of the Mammoth Lakes Trail System. These images are featured on the Mammoth Lakes Trail System website and are vital to public outreach efforts, celebrations of success with the local community, and Mammoth Lakes Trail System governance.
