Lakes Basin and Sherwins Area Trail Enhancement Project - 2020

The Lake Basin and Sherwins Area Trail Enhancement Project proposes to construct new multi-use, non-motorized trails located in the Sherwins and Lakes Basin area as recommended by the Sherwins Area Recreation Plan and the Lakes Basin Special Study.

SHARP Environmental Review: Phase III

An Environmental Assessment is underway for this project. It includes the construction of new trail facilities and reconstruction of select user-created trails to be designated as official non-motorized National Forest System Trails. The closure and rehabilitation of other select user-created trails is included as part of the project.

SHARP Environmental Review: Phase II

This project includes the construction of new trails along with the reconstruction of select user-created trails to be designated as official non-motorized National Forest System Trails. The closure and rehabilitation of other select user-created trails is included as part of the project.

SHARP Environmental Review: Phase I

This project is complete and included the construction of two new trails along with the rehabilitation of select user-created trails.

LABSS Trail Alignment Studies

The Lakes Basin Special Study (LABSS) Executive Summary made recommendations for Trail Development in the Mammoth Lakes Basin. The MLTS Team is drafting proposals that will be used for environmental analysis and design to inform construction efforts.

SHARP Trail Alignment Studies

The SHARP TTC works within the scope of the Sherwin Area Recreation Plan (SHARP) to take INF-reviewed SHARP trail proposals from a conceptual level to detailed alignments ready for environmental analysis.
