MLTS Signage and Wayfinding – Regulatory

Project Description: During the summer of 2020,  the Mammoth Lakes Trails System designed and then installed new aluminum regulatory sign panels onto existing MLTS signage systems for both soft surface and hard surface multi-use trails and pathways in and around Mammoth Lakes. Conceptual designs for these new signage and wayfinding enhancements were presented to the U.S. Forest Service, the Mammoth Trails Committee, and the Town’s Recreation Commission. With the appropriate approvals in hand, the new regulatory sign panels were deployed and then affixed to existing signage and wayfinding infrastructure including trail signposts and pathway bollards. This new regulatory signage program uses standardized U.S. Forest Service symbols to communicate trail courtesy messaging and to make clear what activities are allowed or restricted on a given trail or pathway. Activities in question include horses and equestrian, hiking, ebikes and cycling, and other recreation activities commonly found on the Mammoth Lakes Trail System. Keep an eye out and be sure to abide by allowed forms of travel to ensure a safe experience for all users while using designated trails and pathways on the Mammoth Lakes Trail System.

MLTS Regulatory Array Proposal
