The splendor of the Mammoth Lakes Basin during the winter season is difficult to put into words. Winter recreation experiences are enhanced by the unique geography and the spectacular alpine setting, nestled just below the Sierra Crest. The Mammoth Lakes Basin lies within the municipal boundary of the Town of Mammoth Lakes on public land managed by the Inyo National Forest, and is an increasingly popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Truly a "land of many uses", it is easy to access and offers world class cross country skiing at the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center, snow shoeing, back country access, and snowmobiling for a short period of time in the early and late season. The Mammoth Lakes Winter Recreation Summit provides an opportunity to the public to participate in an effort to optimize the existing infrastructure and to synthesize ideas for improving the recreational experience.
A constructive effort begins with visiting this amazing winter wonderland. Please explore the well maintained network of Nordic trails, snowshoe trails, or simply walk along the public access corridor toward Horseshoe Lake. We want to hear about your experiences and how they can be improved. And please explore the links below before the presentation on Saturday, March 19th. We look forward to your feedback.
