September 19: Lakes Basin Clean Up

Project Description: Summer lingers, Godzilla’s on the way – time to clean up the Mammoth Lakes Basin!  Come and work with Joel Rathje, the new Trails Coordinator for the Mammoth Lakes Trail System, and join the Sierra Conservation Project, the Great Sierra River Clean Up, and CalTrout at the Horseshoe Lake Picnic Area at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 19 for the final Summer of Stewardship Trails Day Event of the 2015 season. A free gourmet lunch brought to you by Sunrise Rotary and the incomparable Bleu Handcrafted Foods caps off your clean up efforts along with raffle prizes and lots of free giveaways. Close-toed shoes and long pants required; please carpool if you can. Volunteers will get an introduction to trail maintenance skills from Joel Rathje and Friends of the Inyo staff. Those interested in being regular members of the Mammoth Lakes Trail System stewardship team should be sure to show up September to get trained up for future SOS projects.

  • When: Saturday, September 19, 8:30 a.m.
  • Where: Horseshoe Lake Picnic Area for a free bagel breakfast, safety talk and work assignments.
  • What: Summer of Stewardship Trail Days 2015 Event #5 cleaning up the Mammoth Lakes Basin.
  • Who: Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome! Please dress for trail work: sturdy, close-toed shoes, hat, and long pants. Gloves and tools provided.
