Mammoth Lakes SOS 2009: August 1, Panorama Dome

Co-hosted by High Sierra Equestrian Club, the 395 Fat Tire Council, and the Mammoth Lakes Fire Department!

Project Description: A dedicated crew of weekend early risers -- at 38, our biggest yet! -- traded their Saturday to help beautify two well-loved Lakes Basin locales: Panorama Dome and Mammoth Rock Trail. Owners of both types of saddles -- equestrian and bicycle -- turned out in force thanks to the efforts of the event's recreation co-hosts, High Sierra Equestrian Club and the 395 Fat Tire Council, working together to limb overhanging branches, tidy up Panorama Dome Trail and Mammoth Rock Trail, and build a sweet new berm on Panorama Vista Trail. Chris Fergus of the Mammoth Lakes Fire Department was on hand to explain the MLFD's joint Fuels Reduction Program (with the Inyo National Forest) currently being conducted on Panorama Dome and to show participants what a healthy forest looks like. An additional crew (including some very special kids!) ventured out to Twin Lakes to pick up trash and paint picnic tables. Check out the "Deliverables" section, below, for details.
