Summer of Stewardship 2011: September 24 at Panorama Dome

Project description: Join us on Saturday, September 24 (National Public Lands Day), to build a NEW public mountain bike trail on Panorama Dome! As envisioned by the Sherwins Working Group in the Sherwins Area Recreation Plan (SHARP), this trail will connect the Panorama Dome Mountain Bike Trail to the brand-new Lakes Basin Path, enabling an efficient, all-trail riding experience right in town.

Tasks will include removing vegetation and rocks, brushing, and possible lopping inside the flagged trail alignment. Proper attire (long pants and sleeves, sturdy close-toed shoes, and eye protection) is a MUST. Snacks and lunch will be provided.

Directions: We'll be staging under a white pop-up tent directly at the worksite, which is on the hill across from Lake Mary Road's intersection with the Twin Lakes Loop road (the road that goes to Tamarack Lodge, just past the Twin Lakes Vista). From town, drive up Lake Mary Road toward the Lakes Basin. Just before you reach Twin Lakes Loop road, look up and to your left to spot the tent. Park along the Twin Lakes Loop road, then carefully cross Lake Mary Road on foot using the designated "safe-crossing route" through the construction site that we will have marked and head up the hill to the white pop-up tent. We encourage carpooling, as parking is limited.

Please RSVP in advance to MLTPA Natural Resources Director Drew Blankenbaker or call (760) 934-3154.
